Understanding and making sense of life experiences
There are many reasons why individuals find themselves seeking therapy. I work with adults who are looking to make sense of life experiences and the feelings and emotions they may be struggling to process. Many of my clients have come to understand themselves as Neurodivergent later in life. Neurodivergence and acquired Neurodivergence may intersect with developmental trauma, disability, and experiences of grief and loss. I work with you to understand your perspective, how or why it aligns (or doesn’t) with your own values, why difficult emotionality persists (and how to navigate that) and offer a supportive space for you to explore how to return to joy with more confidence, honouring your individual capacity.

Therapeutic Lens
I am trained as a Drama Therapist first and work from this lens in my role as a Registered Psychotherapist. This is an integrative discipline which incorporates narrative therapy, existential therapy, developmental theories (attachment informed and exploring how each stage of life was navigated) and accounts for life experiences such as:
grief and loss
trauma and abuse
chronic conditions
Neurodivergent and acquired Neurodivergent experiences
Interpersonal issues
My aim as a therapist is to help you to process your lived experiences, including your parenting and caregiving challenges (or experiences being cared for) in consideration of your unique cultural background so that you can achieve your individual goals, working towards personal growth through attuning to your own authentic voice and internal compass.
Types of Sessions
Several different therapeutic options are offered at Think Joy Drama Therapy including individual talk-based sessions for those who prefer a talk-based approach.
For the more creatively inclined I offer Drama & Play sessions which directly use the creative experience to indirectly work through your goals and experiences. This is a unique method used for processing traumatic associations and memories, or working with dissociation.
For something in between and/or for the writers I am now offering individual Poetry Therapy sessions where you can bring your own writing or poetry to discuss in session or poetry will be provided to use as a jumping off point to therapeutic material.
