Hi, I’m Venus (she/they), a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) &
a Creative Arts Therapist specialized in Drama Therapy, Poetry (Narrative) & Play-Based Therapy.
The (Qualifying) addition to my title indicates that I often consult with a qualified professional supervisor in order to ensure that you will receive the best care possible as I continue to gain experience in private practice and receive regular guidance from mentor therapists. I am happy to discuss any concerns or questions you may have about this or about how Drama Therapy might be a fit for you during a discovery call or during your initial intake session. You can be assured that your personal information will always remain confidential and secure.

Think Joy Drama Therapy Philosophy
As a Drama Therapist, I have certain ways of engaging clients in therapeutic exercises which might serve to provide varying levels of mental and/or creative distance to challenging subject matter so that they are able to access different perspectives from a position of strength and authenticity. The way I will approach working with you will be highly individualized to your goals regarding why you are seeking therapy at this time. I continue to do my own learning about trauma’s affects on the nervous system from an intergenerational/cultural-systemic and developmental perspective and will meet you where you are on your own journey to understanding yourself, your identity, your experiences in loss and grief, and any personal challenges you would like to address in therapy sessions.

I am always seeking to improve on my knowledge in order to provide a therapeutic experience where you will feel validated, empowered and most importantly, feel safe enough to be witnessed in your personal struggles and your creative explorations. I believe that creative explorations offer individuals an outlet to express difficult feelings and memories, to explore new perspectives, and to build a personal experience of self-understanding and needed growth.
