Individual therapy can provide a space for you to work towards your therapeutic goals in a focused way.
If you are looking for style of therapy that will help you get more connected to your body to explore your life experiences from alternative perspectives to gain new insights – but don’t feel ready for a group setting yet – then individual therapy sessions are what you are looking for.
Hi, I’m Venus (she/they), a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) &
trained Creative Arts Therapist specialized in Drama Therapy, Poetry (Narrative) & Play-Based Therapy. I integrate these mind-body focused therapies into my work as a Registered Psychotherapist.

Have you ever felt like there was more to the story of you?
If you have feelings of anger, depression, sadness or hopelessness, or self-define as a person who rushes to help others, ‘people please’/’fawn’ or feel that you ‘self-abandon’ in relationships, somatic therapies such as Drama Therapy can often help to reset the nervous system. This type of approach used in psychotherapy sessions is fundamentally trauma-informed so that you can share your story from a position of strength, building self-compassion into post-traumatic growth.
I am happy to discuss any concerns or questions you may have about getting started in therapy during a free consultation. Our first session will always be an intake session where we can discuss your goals and specific concerns in more detail to get an overview of what an individualized therapeutic plan might look like for your specific needs.

Think Joy Drama Therapy Philosophy
As a Drama Therapist, I have certain ways of guiding clients in therapeutic exercises which allows me to work with a variety of client concerns from mental health concerns, emotional expression and relational issues or patterns. I use creative exploration, metaphor and objects to move clients through challenging subject matter. These ways of working help clients to explore different perspectives from a position of strength and authenticity.
The way I will approach working with you will be highly individualized to your goals regarding why you are seeking therapy at this time. I continue to do my own learning about trauma’s affects on the nervous system from an intergenerational/cultural-systemic and developmental perspective and will meet you where you are on your own journey to understanding yourself, your identity, your experiences in loss and grief, and any personal challenges you would like to address in therapy sessions.

I am always seeking to improve on my knowledge in order to provide a therapeutic experience where you will feel validated, empowered and most importantly, feel safe enough to be witnessed in your personal struggles and your creative explorations. I believe that creative explorations offer individuals an outlet to express difficult feelings and memories, to explore new perspectives, and to build a personal experience of self-understanding and enhance post-traumatic growth.
